John Ringor (he/him)

John Ringor is an Ensemble Member of Bridge Percussion.

John is a freelance percussionist, music educator, and a professional food writer covering the restaurant scene in his hometown of Chicago. Aside from being an ensemble member of Bridge Percussion, he is also in charge of the copywriting behind Bridge Percussion’s website, program notes, and newsletter.

As a soloist he has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as winner of their Young Artists Competition, appeared on NPR’s From the Top as a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship recipient, was a 2012 YoungArts Silver Winner, and was a quarter finalist in the 2016 TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He has also performed as a substitute with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Civic Orchestra Of Chicago, The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, and The Hudson Valley Philharmonic. As an educator, he currently is on faculty at the Merit School of Music where he teaches group classes and private lessons. He has previously taught at Midwest Young Artist Conservatory, Maine East High School, and Maine West High School.

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree from The Manhattan School of Music and a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University. He is also an alumnus of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Percussion Scholarship Program. His teachers include Christopher Lamb, She-e Wu, Duncan Patton, Erik Charlston, Vadim Karpinos, Ed Stephan, Douglas Waddell, and Patricia Dash.
